SD/MMC Card reader through usb ?
I have tried to connect my SD/MMC card reader to my pc using an extended usb cable, but when I go to my computer > removeable disk d:>…I get a message saying Please insert a disk into drive d:.
Which means I cannot access the SD/MMC card reader to transfer photos to my pc.
On my old pc I had only to plug in the card reader and it would open a folder displaying my photos, so why now do I have this problem ?
The only good thing is when I connect the card reader directly into my usb slot I can access the photos through my computer.
And to confuse things even further – The usb extended cable hub does work with other devices ????
Not sure if this relates to your issue or not, but USB currently has a maximum connection length of about 5 metres. This is because the max allowed delay is 1500 ns, after which time the host assumes the signal has been lost in transmission.
Perhaps your extension cable extends the distance to more than 5 metres?
